DHEA: What It Is and The Benefits

DHEA is a naturally occurring hormone that can affect and convert into the collective hormones in your body. It’s often dubbed as the ‘fountain of youth’ supplement because after peaking in the average persons twenties, DHEA production begins to steadily decline with age. The primary two hormones that DHEA is believed to boost, testosterone and estrogen, also decline with age. This has made DHEA a popular supplement as people continue to learn about the importance of these two hormones.

The claimed benefits of DHEA supplements are quite vast. Although hormone support is the first benefit many people associate with it, the boost in these hormones can also potentially support good immune system health, give you more energy, improve mood and memory, and build bone and muscle strength. DHEA is believed to provide these benefits because all these factors typically decline with age, which could be linked to decreased DHEA, testosterone, and estrogen production.

Although many people are turning to DHEA for its supposed benefits, its important to consult with your doctor or health professional before receiving any hormone treatment or supplements.
